Pain and/or Stress Management Counselling
Stress is part of everyday life. You can't avoid it. A certain amount of stress is necessary and vital to health. In fact, stress in small amounts can be positive as it stimulates both the mind and the body and energises us. It is when stress is experienced to an excessive degree that it becomes damaging to our health. Stress is experienced from three main sources: our environment, our body and our thoughts.
Our environment often demands that we adjust to things such as the weather, noise, traffic, and pollution. In addition, social stressors such as disagreements, deadlines, financial problems, and presentations - all put pressure on us.
Body changes such as illness, poor nutrition, sleep problems, menopause in women, all place certain stressors on us. Our physiological reaction to our environment can result in stressful symptoms such as muscle tension, headaches, stomach upset and anxiety.
Our thoughts can also be another source of stress. When our brain interprets an event as threatening then this can lead to feelings of tension and anxiety.
Stress can be managed in several ways. It can be treated by individual therapy in addition to some medications. Therapy can help restore a sense of control and diminish the power of past events. Tanya Nardone is able to liaise with appropriate medical professionals to ensure that a treatment programme is provided to assist you with managing stress.
Grief and Loss Counselling
Grieving is a natural and necessary process that people experience following a loss. Some people, however, lack the support needed to help them work through the pain of mourning and this is when problems can arise. Tanya Nadone is able to assist in several ways:

- To experience the pain of grief
- To adjust to an environment in which the person is no longer present
- To reinvest emotional energy
Couple and Family Counselling
Relationship counselling is for individuals and couples - de facto couples, married couples and/or two people with conflicting interests who are experiencing problems in their relationship. Relationship counselling is about meeting with couples to attempt to resolve areas of difficulty which they have not been able to handle effectively on their own. Counselling involves working through the issues and empowering both parties to develop new strategies and solutions. This may involve providing tools or options to prevent difficulties developing in the future. For example, couples may learn communication, conflict resolution and relationship skills to help them work together in resolving their problems.
What if your partner doesn't want to attend counselling?
If your partner doesn't want to attend counselling then it is still worthwhile for one person to attend to talk about what's happening in the relationship and perhaps take away some new skills to help resolve the issue. Couples may wish to attend a mental health professional individually or together as a couple.
